THE CHALLENGE


To cut and remove a section of damaged line pipe (1.7m diameter) lying at a depth of 10 meters off the Irish Coast.  Project Deadline - 1 week


THE SPECIFICATION


Fully insulated and concrete coated underwater pipeline, complied of 150mm reinforced concrete and 20mm of steel protective inner leaf.


THE SOLUTION


InterCore developed a remotely operated underwater saw designed to perform a precision cut on the pipe.  An underwater camera was mounted on the saw for continuous visual contact during the cut - and the saw was operated from a barge.  The cut section was them removed using a 50 tonne barge mounted crane.


THE OUTCOME
